Funded by private donations, the Lake Wichita Revitalization Veterans Memorial Plaza project is expected to be completed in late May if weather permits.
A contractor is to begin setting up to work on the project and will erect a construction fence that will close a small portion of the east end of the Lake Wichita parking lot, according to a media release from the city of Wichita Falls.
The area will remain fenced off until the project is finished. The park and trail will be open, but residents are asked to use caution and be aware of the construction.
Marrs Patriot Construction, a Wichita Falls-based company that is veteran-owned and veteran-operated, is building the project. A contract was awarded to the company for approximately $456,000 in April.
