In the single largest fish passage project from President Biden's infrastructure law to date, nearly $8.3 million is coming to the Pyramid Lake Paiute Reservation to restore 65 miles of fish habitat. A fish passage will be put near the Numana Dam, a few miles south east of Pyramid Lake, to protect the Lahontan cutthroat trout and the Cui-ui sucker.

“It’s historical. This is big for us, and its part of our existence," said Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribal Chairman James Phoenix. "This project will allow both the endangered Cui-ui and threatened Lahontan cutthroat trout, each of which is culturally and spiritually important to the members of the Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe, to once again access their historic spawning areas on and upstream of the Tribe's reservation."
