Volunteers with New Mexico B.A.S.S Nation are planting Gooding’s Willow in Elephant Butte ahead of irrigation season. Conservationists say it is the best plant to grow underwater to help fish habitat, especially when the water level starts decreasing. Experts say it is crucial to help fish habitat now because the lack of snowpack means the water levels will decrease much faster than last year.
